Microaggressions
This comic is a reflection of an experience I had at an old job. It lies somewhere between a good and bad memory.

Harm and Healing:
Healing Through
Stories
This illustration explores the concept of harm and healing in the sense of living through another person's life, fictitious or not, through their story. The reader can safely explore the characters' hardships and witness the resolution of their problems, providing a safe space for readers to process their own traumas and empathise with inexperienced ones.
This illustration depicts a child hiding under their covers from the stress and criticism around them, while the characters in the story hold them close.

Escaping the
Pigeonhole
Please click this image to view the whole thing.
This illustration explores the concept of being "pigeonholed", which means being restricted to a specific role or stereotype that limits how others perceive your skill or potential. Many minority authors are pigeonholed into writing specific themes important to their identities, where the representation becomes more important than the literature itself. Many minority authors are discouraged from writing outside these genres, limiting their potential and creativity.

Storytelling and
the Past 1
Writing is a creative activity that that weaves the tale the writer wants to tell. Creative activities like writing, art, and music have the power to translate human experience and feelings into a format that is processable in different ways than other types of delivery, making them digestible on an emotional level. Autobiographical writing and reading offers us the unique opportunity to live (in a sense) another person's reality.

Storytelling and
the Past 2
My two takeaways from this week's readings:
1. The importance of sharing human experiences through storytelling
2. The cathartic value of creating and sharing

Storytelling and
the Past 3
I went through an old sketchbook that I used for chronicling my fragile emotional state back when I was going through a hard time in 2014. I made a collage explaining the progression over a period of months. I wish this had a clear start and finish, but unfortunately it doesn't! This was my story at that time.

Harm and Healing:
Scenarios
This poster explores the concept of harm and healing in different scenarios; for example, "racist", its opposite "anti-racist", and the nonexistent safe space "non-racist". The examples explore this concept with themes of increasing severity.

Culturally
Responsive LPs
This is a collection of culturally responsive activities based on The Last Cuentista. More details in my discussion 3 post. All activities involve the sharing of experience and creative problem solving.

Your Story Matters
This poster is an expression of the main takeaway I got from this course. Our stories, experiences, values, needs, and pain matter, and one thing we can do as educators is to help learners express themselves and empathise with one another.
